Easter Sunday Dinner

Tuesday, March 22, 2016

It's been about a month since my last update. I've been pretty busy and have had a lot going on over this past month. Between our Anniversary getaway, a small procedure on my wrist, a funeral I just didn't have the time to post.

Growing up, Easter dinner was as big as Christmas or Thanksgiving Dinner.  Usually it would be at my grandma's house. She would fix baked pulled ham and fried turkey! Her specialty is fried turkey. It's not ,
as most people think, a whole fried turkey. Its pieces of breast meat marinated over night and then breaded and fried. It is the best thing ever!

This year we don't have to be at either of our families for Easter Sunday. For once, It's just the 5 of us. So to make it extra special for my family, I have decided to host our own Easter Dinner. The best part is setting the table and decorating!

I have a lot to do in my Dining Room. I have found the perfect thing for it, but I am waiting to see if it turns out to show you!

I LOVE my China! I love the simplicity of the white and the Gold trim. I was gifted 300 pcs of this china! My Grandmother bought this for me 10 years ago and I am just now getting to use it. I think It fits perfectly into my Decor

I went for a more simple table decorations. The wooden box, for the center piece, was handmade by my Aunt from their old chicken coop. I used these White milk bottles, I bought at Ross, as little vases.

Another view of  my china. I had planned to have my greenery "wreaths" between the charger and dinner plate, but they didn't come in time to show you.  I love these little napkin rings I found at Target in the Dollar Spot! They look like little bunny ears.

On a side note, I came home last week to find a bird had made her nest in my wreath. Today I found a single robin's egg. Just in time for Easter! I'm Happy a little bird thought our home was home enough to build her nest here.

Later this week, I will show you all what I made for our Church's Easter Dinner! Hint: they are big
and made of paper!!!

Hippity Hoppity Easter's on it's way!!

With a little over 4 weeks to go until Easter Sunday I am in full force getting my house decorated for Spring/Easter. With 3 littles it's a little harder to decorate all at once. As soon as I start decorating and crafting, I hear "MOM! I'm Hungry", "MOM! Come wipe me", 'MOM! He has my toy!" and between all that P is crying needing to be fed. I'm sure all you mommies can relate. I wouldn't change anything though. These days won't last forever. They won't always need me to wipe them, to be the referee, and chef. So I try to space out my decorating. I move things and add things here and there. So here are my updated spring decorations so far.
I apologize in advance for the Spring Bunting missing it's "P." I blame it on mommy brain! It will be fixed soon!
These little Bunnies I found at Target in the Dollar Spot. Have I mentioned that I LOVE Target! No, I do not have my curtains up yet. I know its been 5 months since we moved in (Don't judge) That is soon to come. I just can't find the perfect ones yet.

"The Lord is my Shepherd I lack nothing" This sign I found at Hobby Lobby. I used my 40% coupon and got it for a little over $13. I love Psalms 23 and The Design fit right in with the rest.

I love our Mudroom in our House. Our previous home had one and I knew this house absolutely had to have one as well. I love to decorate it. This sign is from Down Grace Lane that she specially made for me. Sorry it's not in focus. I will get a better picture later.

This is just a little close up of our coffee table. These little stands that the bunnies and pitcher is on I got from hobby lobby. I think they are really supposed to be cake stands but I thought it was perfect for something like this.

Close up of my spring Bunting. I usually make the bunting myself using burlap but I found these at the Target Dollar Spot for $3 and couldn't pass up the opportunity to skip a step. I just free handed the letters and wreaths on the end and painted them with regular craft paint. I ran out of twine to thread the bunting through so I just used what I had on hand. This is will probably change soon. As you start to see my whole house, you'll start to notice I have an major obsession with wreaths and white pitchers.

This isn't anything to do with Spring but this is one of my new favorite pieces in my house. Also Custom made By Down Grace Lane. She is very talented and I have several of her signs through out my home. She now has these two signs available to purchase in her Etsy shop.

See what did I say about the white pitchers lol Oh well we all have our weaknesses.

Soon to come is the post on Paper Flowers. I'm working on something really special for Easter so stay tuned!!

Will Zoo Be Mine?

Saturday, February 13, 2016

So this year I decided to make the Boy's Valentine's Day cards. To be honest this is the first year we have handed out cards for Valentines Day. The past years the boys didn't really know what was going on. This years theme is: Will Zoo Be Mine?

All you need for these adorable little valentine's cards are:

  • Kaft paper Cardstock (I got mine at Hobby Lobby)
  • type of string (I used red jute string)
  • Alphabet Stamps (Target dollar section)
  • Zoo Animals (bought a bucket of them at Hobby Lobby)
  • Sissors
  • Hole Punch
  • Ink Pad
  • Red Felt
  • Glue Gun

I started by folding my card stock in half, cutting it, and folding it in half again and then again cutting it. You will want them to be in fourths.

I started stamping the saying on to the card stock

Then with my hole punch I punched two holes side by side

I cut my string about 6 inches or so and fed it through the holes with the end pieces coming through the front

I then tied my Animal to the card like so

Look at this little face! She's thinking what are you doing mommy? You're supposed to be holding me!"

I then cut a little felt heart out by folding a square piece of felt in half and then cut it like we all learned in kindergarden lol

Then glue it on your card and your done! Easy Peasy! You could do so many more things. Girl themed etc. Be creative!

Until Next time....

Spring is just around the corner

Spring Has Sprung in the Hatfield's Home. Even though it is freezing cold (like 10 degrees outside) I couldn't help my impulses today while shopping at Michaels. Of course I go in for one thing and come out with a cart full of stems, wreath accessories and easter decor. I had to make my Easter wreath right away and put out my "Our Nest" Pillow. Who doesn't like birds or little nest for Easter. Over the next several weeks I will be updating and giving a tour of our new house as I go, so stay tuned if you want to see more.
